  1. What is Denied Party Screening (DPS)?

The U.S. Government maintains several lists of entities and individuals who are subject to sanctions and generally with whom U.S. persons are prohibited from conducting business.  In certain instances, companies should not make proposals to some of these entities, without prior approval from the U.S. Government.

Some examples of restricted entities will include those with connections to or ties with embargoed countries, previous export control violations and/or Involvement in certain types of activities such as:

  • Global Terrorism Sanctions
  • Narcotics Kingpin Sanctions
  • Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Proliferators
  • Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons,
  • Iran, Lebanon and Libya, Somalia, South Sudan, Syria Sanctions Acts
  • Scientific Studies & Research Center Employee-Syria

Conducting Denied Party Screening (DPS) is a key element of your compliance program.   1. Are the searches limited to sanctioned lists or are there other sources used by the database?

  1. If a person has known aliases, will the DPS provide known aliases back to the customer?

Yes.  Known aliases of people or entities will be provided within the search.

  1. What is the Country Alert List?

Country alerts include State Department 126.1 prohibited destinations, countries subject to Commerce Department restrictions, and countries subject to OFAC sanctions programs.

  1. How do you maintain an audit trail using the ECS Denied Party Screening services?

Once you have a positive hit, you can save your results as a pdf and save to your hard drive. You can also save the information in “My Saved Results and run a continuous search list in “My Search List” to demonstrate your commitment to compliance through Denied Party Screening.

  1. How long does the system keep the audit trail?

The system will store the results for as long as you have a contract with ECScreening.com.

  1. Is there a limitation on number of searches?

The beauty of ECScreening.com is that searches are always unlimited as long as you have an active subscription plan.

ECScreening.com utilizes various state of the art security measures to keep our data safe. Our site utilizes SSL/TLS to ensure that connections to our server are secure and the data that passes through the connections is encrypted. Servers that host ECScreening.com are subject to 24/7 network monitoring. Additionally, the servers have redundant routers for consistent connections, are backed up with an uninterrupted power supply, as well as a backup diesel generator to keep things running smoothly in case of power significant power issues.

  1. How often is the ECScreening.com updated?

ECS' s team of experts stays apprised daily of changes to export controls and events in order to ensure the most accurate search experience for our valued clients. Some lists require daily updating due to what they reference; others require less frequent updating and are reviewed with optimum and appropriate time sequences.

  1. What do I do if there is a “hit/search” result for my search?

In the event there is a hit/search result for your search term, you will need to use the information button to read the results closely to determine if they apply to your export transaction. You then may find that the hit on your entry will not prohibit or otherwise affect your transaction, or else you may find that it does prohibit or otherwise affect your transaction.   You can copy PDF search results into a master folder and/or save it to your “My Saved Results” file.
