OFAC Designates Russia-linked Entities in Hong Kong, China, Sudan, and Thailand

A reminder of the broad aspects of sanctions program, on July 15th, the Department of Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) added three individuals and five entities to the Specially Designated Nationals And Blocked Persons List (SDN List).  The relevant sanctions programs identified were Cyber-related, Foreign Interference in U.S. Elections, and Ukraine/Russia-related.

While the three individuals are Russians, one with a second passport from Saint Kitts and Nevis, the entities have locations around the world, including Sudan, Thailand, China, and Hong Kong.  All of the entities, however, are linked to Russian SDNs.

The Hong Kong listings are separate from the recent suspension of Hong Kong's special status for export controls.

As always, these listings are a reminder of the importance of continuous screening of customers and other business connections in every country.
